Al Thumama (name on a native tree) is a dynamic and underground football stadium in Al Thumama, Qatar, near Hamad International Airport and 12 km south of central Doha. It is an Ultra-modern stadium famous for its well-developed & unique structure. Al Thumama is one of the eighth stadiums nominated for FIFA World Cup 2023. The stadium is in circular form (240 m diameter) reflecting the gahfiya (a woven cap adorned by men in the Middle East)
Construction
Qatari Architect Ibrahim M. Jaidah designed the stadium in gahfiya shape with the support of Heerim Architect and Fenwick Irbarren Architect. Al Jaber Engineering and Tekfen Construction constructed the stadium with a capacity of 40,000 seats.
